    The new park has been constructed and is already being enjoyed by many local people.

    The Art component, which includes a Mosaic Mural and Mosaic Stepping Stones is still underway, but will complete soon.

    An opening event is planned for February 2016 .

  • Hazelbrook and Woodford Creeks Catchment Floodplain Risk Management Study

    Blue Mountains City Council has engaged Cardno to assist with the preparation of a Floodplain Risk Management Study (FRMSP) and Draft Plan. This is in accordance with the New South Wales Flood Prone Land Policy.

    The Risk Management Study and Plan follows on from the Flood Study, completed in 2013, which identified existing flooding behaviour in the Hazelbrook and Woodford Creek catchments.

    The purpose of the Risk Management Study and Plan is to identify and recommend appropriate actions to manage flood risks in the Hazelbrook and Woodford Creek catchments.

    The Australian and NSW governments are funding a 10 year, $3.6 billion road investment program for Western Sydney. The Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan will deliver major road infrastructure upgrades to support integrated transport for the region.

    The Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan will make western Sydney an even better place to live and do business.

    This investment will relieve pressure on existing infrastructure and unlock the economic capacity of the region by easing congestion, improving safety, access and creating thousands of local jobs.

    The Plan includes the upgrade of the Ross Street and Great Western Highway intersection at Glenbrook, which was announced in March 2015.

    This vision is to create safe and accessible pathways of travel that improves our connections with our destinations and each other and encourages people of all ages to walk for everyday transportation and enjoyment.

    Council is currently conducting a periodic review of its Code of Meeting Practice. The draft Code will be exhibited for 28 days from 23 September 2015 to 22 October, with comments accepted for 42 days up to 5 November 2015. You can view the draft code here.

    We would like to encourage residents to consider the draft and make relevant submissions. The present draft is designed to be a more streamlined reference tool for clear and ready access by Councillors, staff and members of the public. This draft also offers more flexibility in terms of Council meeting start times without diminishing notice provisions. Key legislation underpinning this policy is the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005 (NSW).


  • Ward Boundary Adjustment

    The Local Government Act 1993 requires a Council to adjust its ward boundaries where the difference between electors in wards is greater than 10 per cent.

    This report outlines the review undertaken and the suggested adjustment for Council’s consideration and seeks endorsement to place the proposed adjustment on public exhibition for community comment.

    All NSW councils have received instructions from the Electoral Commission of NSW that they
    a required to commence the review process in relation to Ward Boundaries within their Local
    Government Areas prior to the September 2016 Local Government election.
